Amateur Radio

Amateur Radio has been a part of our lives and history for almost a hundred years.  Becoming a Ham ( Amateur radio operator) has never been easier with the No-code for any class operator ( No Morse Code ).  There are many very good web pages on becoming a Amateur Radio Operator, one of the best is the ARRL ( American Radio Relay League ) information page on becoming a Ham at http://www.arrl.org/hamradio.html .

After you have studied a book like "Now Your Talking" from the ARRL cost is about $20.00, or other books from different sources your ready for the test of 35 questions.  There are Web Sites that you can take practice tests before you go to a VE Exam ( local test times and locations can be searched for at ARRL web site link is http://www.arrl.org/arrlvec/examsearch.phtml ).  Taking these practice tests are a very good way of gauging  your progress as you prepare for the FCC test these are some of the test sites:

                            http://www.hamtestonline.com

                            http://www.qrz.com/testing.html

                            http://www.aa9pw.com/

                            http://www.eham.net/exams/

You will need a picture ID when you signup to take the Exam and there is a small fee for taking the test of usually under $15.00.  If you have any questions contact the sponsor of the VE exam phone numbers given below for each sponsor.

Although it is no longer necessary to learn Morse Code you may still wish to do so, here are some good Web Sites to add you in learning Morse Code.
